I have just received a letter from my brother, Tim.
我刚刚收到我弟弟蒂姆的一封来信。
have just received 是现在完成时，强调“刚收到”；from my brother 说明信件来源。
He is in Australia.
他现在在澳大利亚。
is in Australia 直接交代 Tim 当前所在地点。
He has been there for six months.
他已经在那里待了六个月。
has been there for six months 表示“从过去持续到现在”；for + 一段时间是现在完成时高频标志。
Tim is an engineer.
蒂姆是一名工程师。
一句简单身份介绍，为后文工作和出差铺垫。
He is working for a big firm and he has already visited a great number of different places in Australia.
他正在一家大公司工作，而且已经去过澳大利亚许多不同的地方。
前半句 is working 写当前状态；后半句 has already visited 写到目前为止的经历。a great number of 表示“许多”。
He has just bought an Australian car and has gone to Alice springs, a small town in the centre of Australia.
他刚买了一辆澳大利亚汽车，并且已经去了澳大利亚中部的小镇艾丽斯斯普林斯。
has just bought 与 has gone to 并列；Alice Springs 后面同位语补充说明地点。centre of Australia 说明地理位置。
He will soon visit Darwin.
他不久将去达尔文。
will soon visit 表示接下来的安排；soon 表示“不久以后”。
From there, he will fly to Perth.
他将从那里飞往珀斯。
from there 把路线往下推进；fly to 表示乘飞机去某地。
My brother has never been abroad before, so he is finding this trip very exciting.
